The WagLab Philosophy
My philosophy is simple: Happy dogs make smiling dogs. Smiling dogs make for wonderful photographs. I like to build chemistry with you and your dog before I start taking pictures, simply by allowing your dog to get used to my presence and know that I am there as both an ally and photographer.
I’ve always had dogs growing up and can attribute their presence in my life to helping shape who I am today, both as an artist and a person.
I received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Motion Graphic Design in 2010 and spent the better part of the last 8 years working in graphics, film, and visual effects. It wasn’t until 2016 that I started working hands-on with dogs at a daycare. It was here when I discovered that I absolutely needed to live a life working with animals but I also knew I had to keep my creative ideas coming to fruition. I began to photograph the dogs at the daycare, capturing their wonderful personalities and beauty with my camera. In late 2017 I decided to (sadly) leave the dog daycare and pursue my own endeavor: photographing dogs and other animals as my main livelihood. It has been a remarkable experience so far and I anticipate it to continue to fulfill my dearest dreams while bringing smiles to the clients that choose to shoot with me.
I now have a dog of my own, Apollo the Magic Husky, who pushes me everyday to be a better photographer and a better person. I hope that we are able to share our vision with you.
What makes us different?
I want you and your dog to feel comfortable during our shoot. I like to think of our time as a stress-free zone, so every minute we spend together is as productive as possible. Often times, I will see what the dog wants to do, what his/her interests are, and what kinds of shots would look best for them. My sessions are organic and I generally think of new ideas on the fly. (If you have any specific ideas in mind, or you like something you see on my website, I will be prepared to get those shots during our shoot.)
The thing that brings me the most joy in life is to see a happy dog. Next to that, being able to capture moments that will last fur-ever for a client is my other great joy.
I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your dog!
